Ditch the spa, keep the skincare at new Ann Arbor shop – MLive.com

ANN ARBOR, MI — A new shop in Ann Arbor is helping customers attain glowing skin while ditching the spa.

Heyday, a shop at 950 W. Eisenhower Parkway dedicated to skincare and facials, is celebrating the opening of its Ann Arbor location — its first in Michigan — on Friday, Jan. 13, with an event that includes visits from Thrivery and Link x Lou.

Heyday is aimed at making skincare and facials more accessible by taking skin treatments out of the spa setting. While facials are generally conducted in at a dayspa or resort, Heyday’s treatments take roughly an hour, making them easier to work them into a monthly routine.

“It really is a different concept,” said Mike Kelleher, Heyday franchise partner, who lives in Ann Arbor with his wife.

Each appointment begins with a skincare evaluation and discussion of skin care goals, which can include common concerns like dehydration and fine lines. Individual treatments are chosen based on the customer’s concerns.

Visitors can also choose to add an “enhancement” to their treatment.

Enhancements come in two tiers and cost either $80 or $50 per treatment. The higher tier includes microdermabrasion, microcurrent and hydrowand treatments, while the lower-tier treatment options include a facial peel, an LED mask or a gua sha treatment.

“The actual treatment itself is more of an interactive treatment because our focus is really on helping our clients and members achieve their skincare goals,” Kellehr said.

Treatments cost $135 for non-members and $104 for members. Membership also comes with discounts for enhancement treatments and products.

Heyday’s focus is on selfcare and wellness, rather than intensive dermatology treatments aimed at medical conditions, Kelleher said, a concept he knows would appeal to Ann Arbor residents.

“We know the importance that the Ann Arbor community places on personal wellness and this is really a personal wellness offering. It’s about self-care,” Kelleher said. “It’s about taking care of your skin, and I think my wife and I both felt like Ann Arbor would really embrace this offering.”

Heyday is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. While the shop does take walk-ins, appointments are encouraged. Find the skincare shop online.
